Strength from within

why should you practice pendant pose?

Why should practice lolasana, pendant pose? Weak hip flexors can lead to lower back pain. The hip flexors are a group of muscles responsible for flexing the hip, or bringing the leg upward toward the body. They attach to the lower six vertebrae of your spine at the back and on the top of the femur, leg bone, at the front. When they are shortened they pull the legs towards the chest, required for walking, running or kicking.

For people who sit, or arch their back on standing, the hip flexors are not only weak but also very tight. This causes the pelvis to tilt forward, the core and glutes to switch off and lower back to overwork . Strengthening the hip flexors, glutes, hamstrings, and core is important to improve posture, repositioning of the pelvis and reduce back pain.

We’ve been.strengthening hip flexors this week with pendant pose, lolasna, and boat pose, navasna, in yoga, straight legs lifts, teaser and mountain climbers in pilates
